Understanding Skin Rarity and Value

How skin rarity is determined and how Rewardly ensures competitive and fair pricing.

Written by Rewardly

Rewardly offers a wide selection of skins with varying rarity and desirability.

1. Skin Rarity:

Skin rarity typically follows a tiered system established by the game developers (e.g., Valve for CS2, Dota 2, and TF2). Rewardly adheres to these established rarity classifications. Common rarities include:

  • Common (Consumer Grade/White): The most common and readily available skins.

  • Uncommon (Industrial Grade/Light Blue): Less common than Consumer Grade, offering slightly more distinct appearances.

  • Rare (Mil-Spec/Blue): More desirable and less frequently found than Uncommon skins.

  • Mythical (Restricted/Purple): Significantly rarer than Rare skins, often with unique designs.

  • Legendary (Classified/Pink): Highly sought-after skins with distinctive and elaborate designs.

  • Ancient (Covert/Red): Exceptionally rare and prestigious skins, often considered top-tier items.

  • Exceedingly Rare (Knife/Glove): These unique items stand out due to their special category and are highly desirable.

2. Factors Affecting Value:

Besides rarity, other factors influence a skin's perceived value within the Rewardly ecosystem:

  • Demand: Popular skins are generally more valuable.

  • Condition (Exterior): Some games categorize skins based on their wear and tear, affecting their appearance and value (e.g., Factory New, Minimal Wear, Field-Tested, Well-Worn, Battle-Scarred). Rewardly clearly displays the skin condition wherever applicable.

  • Special Features: Certain skins have special features like StatTrak™ technology (in CS2) which tracks kills, further increasing their desirability and coin cost.

  • Market Trends: Fluctuations in the broader skin market can influence perceived value on Rewardly.

3. Rewardly's Competitive and Fair Pricing:

Rewardly strives to offer competitive and fair pricing for all skins. Our Coin costs are determined by considering:

  • Skin Rarity: Rarer skins require more coins.

  • Market Value: We regularly analyze market trends and adjust Coin prices accordingly to maintain fair value.

  • Coin Economy: We balance the availability of coins earned through tasks with the Coin cost of skins to ensure a stable and sustainable in-platform economy.

4. How Coin Costs Are Determined:

While the specific calculations are proprietary, the general process involves evaluating the factors mentioned above. This includes analyzing real-time market data, assessing skin demand within Rewardly, and balancing the overall Coin economy.

5. Transparency:

Rewardly aims for transparency. The Coin cost for each skin is clearly displayed in the shop. While we can't disclose the precise formula due to market sensitivities, we assure you our pricing is designed to be both competitive and fair. You can even see the price history of each skin.
