What to Do if Your Account is Compromised

If you believe your Rewardly account has been compromised, don't panic!

Written by Rewardly

We understand that account security is a top priority. Here's what you should do:

1. Change Your Password Immediately:

If you still have access to your account, change your password immediately. Choose a strong, unique password that you don't use for any other online services. Make it at least 8 characters long and include a mix of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols.

2. Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA):

If you haven't already, enable 2FA. This adds an extra layer of security, requiring a verification code from your phone in addition to your password, making it much harder for unauthorized access. See our "Two-Factor Authentication" support article for details.

3. Review Your Account Activity:

Check your account activity for any unauthorized transactions, such as redeemed skins you didn't authorize or changes to your account information.

4. Contact Rewardly Support Immediately:

Even if you've managed to change your password and secure your account, it's essential to contact our support team as soon as possible. We can investigate the compromise, help you assess any potential damage, and take further steps to secure your account. Provide as much detail as possible, including:

  • Your Rewardly username

  • The date and time you noticed the compromise

  • Any suspicious activity you observed

  • Any changes you've already made (e.g., password change)

5. Check Your Linked Accounts:

If you use the same password for other online services, change those passwords as well. If you linked your Rewardly account to any third-party services (e.g., social media accounts), review their security settings and ensure they haven't been compromised.

6. Secure Your Device:

Run a scan with reputable antivirus/anti-malware software to ensure your device isn't infected with malware that may have contributed to the compromise.

What Rewardly Will Do:

Our support team will investigate the reported compromise and take appropriate action, which may include:

  • Temporarily suspending your account to prevent further unauthorized activity.

  • Reviewing account activity logs to identify the source and extent of the compromise.

  • Assisting you in recovering your account and securing it.

Preventing Future Compromises:

  • Keep Your Software Updated: Regularly update your operating system, apps, and antivirus/anti-malware software to patch security vulnerabilities.

  • Be Cautious of Phishing Attempts: Don't click on suspicious links or provide your login details to anyone via email or messaging apps. Rewardly will never ask for your password directly.

  • Use Strong and Unique Passwords: Avoid using the same password across multiple websites.

We take account security seriously and are here to help you protect your rewards. By working together, we can keep your Rewardly account safe.
